After hitting.259 (42-for-162) with three home runs and 21 RBI for the Giants last season, Wynns, 32, had one appearance for them this year. He spent parts of five seasons in the Major Leagues with Baltimore (2018-,19, 2021), San Francisco (2022-23), and was designated for assignment on April 10. During that time, he hit a combined.230 (109-for-474) with 12 home runs and 51 RBI. With a career fielding percentage of.991, the backstop has caught 28.6% of potential base stealers. He played nine seasons in the minor leagues, slashing.272/.348/.377 with 34 home runs and 245 RBI. Out of Fresno State University, he was originally selected by the Baltimore Orioles in the first round of the 2013 First-Year Player Draft.
Catcher Will Smith has been retroactively placed on the 7-day injured list with a concussion by the Los Angeles Dodgers in favor of signing Austin Wynns to a Major League deal. Alex Reyes, a right-handed pitcher, was moved to the 60-day disabled list by the Dodgers in order to make room on the 40-man roster.

Left-handed pitcher Justin Bruihl was recalled by the Dodgers Right-handed pitcher Andre Jackson was optioned.
The 25-year-old Bruihl has made five appearances with Triple-A Oklahoma City this year and is 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA (0 ER/6.0 IP). He has given up three baserunners (two hits and one walk) while striking out nine batters. He has made two starts in 45 games for the Dodgers and is 1-1 with a 3.40 ERA (16 ER/42.1 IP), 24 strikeouts, and a.195 opponent batting average against average with 14 strikeouts.
The Southpaw completed his college career at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo before being signed on July 15, 2017, as a non-drafted free agent.
