Mookie Betts was added on the paternity list by the Los Angeles Dodgers, who also selected the contract of infielder Luke Williams. The Dodgers moved right-handed pitcher Daniel Hudson to the 60-day injury list to create room for Williams on the 40-man roster.

Williams, 26, played in 14 games with Oklahoma City of the Triple-A level, hitting.375 (21-for-56) with eight doubles, two home runs, and 13 RBI. He has played 500 games in the minor leagues, hitting.245 with 26 home runs and 187 RBI. With the Philadelphia Phillies, he made his Major League debut in 2021. Since then, he has played in 137 games for Philadelphia (2021), San Francisco (2022), and Miami (2022), averaging.240 (54-for-225) with two home runs and 12 RBI. On February 3, 2023, he committed to the Dodgers.

The 30-year-old Betts has played in each of the Dodgers’ 17 games thus far, batting.266 (17-for-64) with two home runs and six RBI. He is in his fourth season with the Dodgers and has played in 336 games for the Boys in Blue, slashing.271/.356/.518 with 76 home runs and 185 RBI. He has played 1,130 games in his 10th Major League season, hitting.292 (1323-for-4524) with 215 home runs and 655 RBI. The Boston Red Sox selected the 2011 American League MVP out of Overton High School (Nashville, TN) in the fourth round of the draft.
