The Los Angeles Dodgers put left-handed pitcher Caleb Ferguson on the paternity list and recalled left-handed pitcher Justin Bruihl.

After playing in five games during his initial stay with Los Angeles, Bruihl, 25, is back with the Dodgers for his second season. He pitched for the Dodgers in five games, going 0-5 with a 1.80 ERA (1 ER/5.0 IP) and four strikeouts. He made seven appearances with Triple-A Oklahoma City and went 3-0 with a 0.00 ERA (0 ER/9.0 IP). He is 1-1 with a 3.23 ERA (17 ER/47.1 IP) and 28 strikeouts in 50 games (two starts) for the Dodgers. He also holds left-handed hitters to a.202 (19-for-94) batting average against with 15 strikeouts. The southpaw completed his college career at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo before being signed on July 15, 2017, as a non-drafted free agent.

In order to be with his wife for the birth of their first child, Ferguson will temporarily be on the paternity list. Ferguson can be away from the team for a maximum of three days in accordance with the paternity leave policy. He is expect to be back on the active roster when the Dodgers face the Padres Friday, May 12th.
The Dodgers’ 26-year-old pitcher Ferguson has played in 15 games, giving up two runs in 14.1 innings while striking out 14. He has a career-best 0.84 WHIP and has held left-handed hitters to a.136 (3-for-22) hitting average this season. He has a total record of 13-5 over his five seasons with the Dodgers, a 3.24 ERA (58 earned runs over 161.1 innings), and 191 strikeouts in 148 games (seven starts). Out of West Jefferson High School in Ohio, he was first selected by the Dodgers in the 38th round of the 2014 First Year Player Draft.
