In addition to selecting the contract of right-handed pitcher Tayler Scott, the Los Angeles Dodgers have recalled right-handed pitcher Gavin Stone, added left-handed pitcher Clayton Kershaw to the bereavement list, and designated right-handed pitcher Wander Suero for assignment.

Stone, 24, is back with the squad for a second time. On May 3, he faced off against the Phillies and gave up five runs (four earned) on eight hits in 4.0 innings. He had a 2-2 record, a 4.04 ERA (16 ER/35.2 IP), and 41 strikeouts in eight starts with Triple-A Oklahoma City. He went a combined 9-6 with a 1.48 ERA (20 ER/121.2 IP) and 168 strikeouts across High-A Great Lakes, Double-A Tulsa, and Triple-A Oklahoma City last season, earning him the title of 2022 Dodgers Branch Rickey Pitcher of the Year.
He had a 6-4 record with a 1.60 ERA (13 ER/73.1 IP), 107 strikeouts, and a 1.44 ERA (4 ER/25.0 IP) in Great Lakes to open the season. With Oklahoma City, he concluded the year, pitching 23.1 innings while recording 33 strikeouts and giving up three earned runs. Since entering the Dodger organization in the fifth round of the 2020 First Year Player Draft after graduating from the University of Central Arkansas, the native of Arkansas is 13-10 with a 2.68 ERA (74 earned runs/248.1 innings) and 347 strikeouts.

In 16 games with Triple-A Oklahoma City, Scott, 30, was 1-0 with a 1.08 ERA (2 ER/16.2 IP) and 29 strikeouts against 10 walks. In 301 minor league appearances, he has compiled a 43-37 record, a 3.83 ERA (284 ER/667.0 IP), and 532 strikeouts. With Seattle (2019), Baltimore (2019), and San Diego (2022) over the course of two seasons, he has a combined record of 0-1 with an 11.12 ERA (35 earned runs/28.1 innings pitched) and 27 strikeouts in 21 games (two starts). On January 3, 2023, the Dodgers signed him as a minor league free agent.

Yesterday, Kershaw, 34, pitched and gave up four runs on five hits over 3.2 innings. He now has a season record of 6-4, a 2.98 ERA (19 ER/57.1 IP), with 69 strikeouts. The eight-time All-Star has a career record of 203-91, a 2.49 ERA (730 ER/2638.1 IP), and 2,876 strikeouts. The Dodgers selected him with the seventh overall choice in the 2006 First Year Player Draft out of Highland Park High School. Kershaw has been placed on the bereavement list to honor his mother who passed recently.
Wander Suero

Yesterday, Suero, 31, tossed two innings and gave up three runs on three hits. He pitched for the Dodgers for four games this season, giving up six runs over 6.2 innings while striking out seven. With Washington (2018–2021) and Los Angeles (2023) over parts of four seasons, he has a combined record of 14–13, a 4.73 ERA (101 ER/192.0 IP), and 207 strikeouts in 189 games in the Major Leagues. On February 2, 2010, the Washington Nationals signed him as an amateur free agent out of Sabana Larga, Dominican Republic.
