Kiké Hernández, an infielder/outfielder for the Los Angeles Dodgers, was activated. Tyson Miller, a right-handed pitcher, was recalled. Justin Bruihl, a left-handed pitcher, was optioned. Outfielder Jonny DeLuca was placed on the injured list due to a right hamstring strain.

After playing for Boston for the previous three seasons, Hernández, 31, joins the Dodgers. The native of Puerto Rico played 76 games for the Red Sox, batting.222 (66-for-297) with 11 doubles, six home runs, and 31 RBI. He had a .234/.308/.382 batting line with Boston, 32 home runs, and 136 RBI. He spent six seasons with the Dodgers before moving to Boston, batting.240 (400-for-1670) with 68 home runs and 213 RBI in 648 games. From the American Military Academy in Toa Baja, Puerto Rico, he was first selected by the Houston Astros in the sixth round of the 2009 First Year Player Draft.
Miller, 27, was traded to Triple-A Oklahoma City from Milwaukee on July 12 and has made two appearances, going 0-2 with five strikeouts in 3.0 innings. He spent portions of three seasons in the Majors with Chicago (2020), Texas (2022), and Milwaukee (2023), amassing a 1-2 record with a 7.92 ERA (22 ER/25.0 IP) and 15 strikeouts against 14 walks. This season, he pitched for Milwaukee and posted a 5.79 ERA (6 ER/9.1 IP) and seven strikeouts. He has played in 154 games (100 starts) in the minor leagues, compiling a 4.02 ERA (265 ER/592.2 IP) and 576 strikeouts against 198 walks. In the fourth round of the 2016 First Year Player Draft, the Chicago Cubs selected him out of California Baptist University.

Last night, DeLuca, 25, left the game in the eighth inning after going 0 for 2. He was placed on the injured list due to a right hamstring strain. With 24 games played for the Dodgers, DeLuca has hit.262 (11-for-42) with one double, two home runs, and six RBI. He played in 17 games for Triple-A Oklahoma City and hit.315 (23 for 73) with four home runs, three doubles, one triple, and 19 RBI. His batting average at Double-A Tulsa to start the season was.279 (34 for 122) with 10 home runs and 18 RBI. The Dodgers originally selected the Southern California native in the 25th round of the 2019 First Year Player Draft out of the University of Oregon.
Last night, 26-year-old Bruihl pitched and gave up three runs in one inning of work. He has played in 20 games with the Dodgers this season and is 1-0 with a 4.07 ERA (11 ER/24.1 IP) and 19 strikeouts. He has spent parts of three seasons with the Dodgers and has a record of 2-2, a 3.65 ERA (27 ER/66.2 IP), and 43 strikeouts while holding left-handed hitters to a.181 average (21-for-116) and 22 strikeouts in 65 games (two starts). The southpaw completed his college career at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo before being signed on July 15, 2017, as a non-drafted free agent.
