First Time Hosting an Award Show

The comedian/actor is about to make history as he takes on his very first hosting role for a major awards show.

“I’ve stepped onto a lot of stages around the world in my career, but this one is going to be extra special. I’m so excited to be hosting the Golden Globes this year,” said Koy. “This is that moment where I get to make my Filipino family proud. Mahal Kita (Google it)!”

Koy’s talent knows no bounds, as he has established himself as a leading force in stand-up comedy, acting, and writing. His comedy is refreshingly relatable, drawing inspiration from the vibrant tapestry of his own family. This unique approach has resonated with audiences of all backgrounds, resulting in sold-out arenas across the globe during his recent “Funny Is Funny World Tour.”

Notably, Koy’s performances have broken sales records at some of the most prestigious venues worldwide. His exceptional comedic prowess is evident in his five highly-rated stand-up specials on Comedy Central and Netflix, including his latest Netflix special, “Live From The Los Angeles Forum.”

Starred in Easter Sunday, a film by Universal Pictures

Koy took the spotlight in the movie Easter Sunday, a Universal Picture production that drew inspiration from his personal encounters and hilarious stand-up routines. He showcased his talent in Disney’s Haunted Mansion and lent his voice to the character Bendo in Netflix’s animated film Monkey King.

Two Brand-new Golden Globe Awards

When it comes to celebrating the best in film and television, the Golden Globes reigns supreme as the largest award show in the world. This year’s edition is set to dazzle with the inclusion of two brand-new awards which are:

  • Best Stand-Up Comedian on Television
  • Cinematic and Box Office Achievement

“We are thrilled to have Jo host the 81st Annual Golden Globe Awards and bring his infectious energy and relatable humor to kick off Hollywood’s award season. The Beverly Hilton Hotel

The Beverly Hilton, which has served as the host hotel since 1961, will host the 81st Golden Globe Awards on January 7, 2024. Beginning at 5 p.m. PT (8-11 p.m. ET), the three-hour event will be broadcast live on CBS, online on Paramount+, and accessible via the CBS app. The exec-producing showrunners are White Cherry Entertainment’s Glenn Weiss and Emmy winner Ricky Kirshner; Weiss will also serve as director. The Globes are a cooperative effort between Todd Boehly and Jay Penske of Eldridge, and DCP.
