Twenty years ago, she found herself in a dire financial situation, lacking any knowledge about the business world. All she wanted was to pursue her passion for designing clothes after completing her studies in Fashion & Textile Design. Deborah understood that she needed some initial capital to kickstart her venture, and it was her mother who came to her aid. In a bold move, her mother decided to remortgage her own house to provide Deborah with a starter loan.
Initially, Henning thought this decision was outrageous, but her mother’s unwavering belief in her surpassed her own self-doubt. When she hesitated to accept the loan, her mother made it clear that if she declined, she would seek out another designer to invest in. Without a doubt, Deborah seized the opportunity and used the money to lay the foundation of her first business venture.
“I was 7 years into my business when I realized that hard work doesn’t always equal monetary rewards, I was completely in the grind of trying to ‘make it”.
Without any support, direction, or expertise to rely on, she embarked on a journey of self-learning while on the job, gradually paving her way to triumph. Amidst this challenging process, remarkable achievements unfolded during those early years: her work was showcased on Vogue.com, she established a store on the iconic Carnaby Street in London, and a renowned photographer even sponsored her clothing for numerous nationwide campaigns.
Unable to Attain Financial Stability
However, despite these accomplishments, she found herself unable to attain the financial stability necessary to live the life she truly desired, remaining trapped in the relentless grind.
When she made the decision to move to Dubai in 2010, she was well aware that she needed to revamp her business strategy in order to increase sales and avoid working around the clock.
It quickly became clear to her that she could benefit from the wisdom and guidance of experienced mentors who had already achieved success in their own ventures. In 2011, Deborah was fortunate enough to be awarded a scholarship to the prestigious School For Creative Startups, which was led by none other than Dragons Den mentor Doug Richard.
Over the course of a year, he imparted invaluable knowledge and insights about the intricacies of running a business. This experience proved to be a game-changer for Deborah.
Brand Relaunch
In 2014, Deborah took the bold step of relaunching her brand in Dubai, this time under her own name. She discovered her niche in the market and developed a strong brand ethos, resulting in the creation of exquisite, high-quality products that resonated with customers. With everything falling into place, Deborah’s hard work and dedication paid off when she secured a coveted spot at London Fashion Week.
Her brand also gained recognition and was stocked in prestigious locations such as Harvey Nichols and St. Regis Maldives. Deborah was finally living her fashion dream, and it was a testament to her unwavering commitment and the success she had achieved.
Henning’s perspective on business changed when she came across another opportunity. It was then that she began contemplating more efficient ways to conduct business. After being chosen to revamp the Majid Al Futtaim corporate workwear in 13 different countries, Deborah utilized her expertise from her previous venture and established a design consultancy. Her aim was to assist entrepreneurs in establishing their brand and creating remarkable products.
Despite facing skepticism and being told that she couldn’t handle it all, Deborah defied the odds and managed to build a business that generated seven figures in less than 18 months. Her determination and expertise propelled her towards success.

It didn’t take long for Deborah to understand the incredible influence of mindset, especially when she noticed that the individuals offering their so-called ‘advice’ were trapped in their own stagnant lives. Determined to break free from any limitations, Deborah embarked on a journey to eliminate any obstacles related to money and cultivate a positive mindset that would pave the way for her to achieve any dream she dared to imagine.

Amidst the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic, Deborah embraced the journey of motherhood, welcoming her first child into the world while simultaneously managing the operations of not just one, but two thriving businesses. This remarkable feat brought forth an entirely unique array of obstacles and hurdles for her to overcome.
“The last piece of my puzzle was my health – I knew that to maintain ultimate energy throughout the day, I had to supercharge my body, with the right fuel and the right amount of sleep. Becoming a mother brought this abruptly into my reality and made it a huge priority. Suddenly, I needed to balance business and motherhood!”
Deborah took this time to certify in health and business coaching, Now knowing that there are so many more elements to a successful business woman than just making money.
