Mom and Dad are doing fine.
It was announced by the Dodgers on Friday, April 18, that Ohtani was placed on paternity leave in anticipation of his wife, Mamiko Tanaka, giving birth to their first child.
The thought was that she might give birth “sometime” over the weekend, and Ohtani would be available to return to the Dodgers lineup as quickly as possible.
The Wait Is Over!
Midday on Saturday, April 19th, Ohtani posted on IG that his wife gave birth to their first child, a baby girl.

Ohtani is set to play for the Dodgers on Sunday in the last game against the Texas Rangers.
