Habits are the babies produced by our choices; small, yet powerful, and when nurtured and repeated over and over again, they grow and become a part of our daily lives.
All habits are not negative. But it’s important to remember that our choices, when repeated on a regular basis, become second nature to us and can help or hinder our personal growth.
Are Your Habits Positive and Beneficial or in Need of a Change?
Take some time and write out 3 habits in your life that are beneficial and 3 that need to change.
Then, depending on the habits that need to change, think about what you can do to transform poor choices into good choices and cultivate habits that are beneficial for a better life.
3 Ways to Effect Change for a Better Life
- First, identify the habit that needs to change.
- Second, set workable goals. As the saying goes, “Rome wasn’t built in a day”; therefore, habits don’t happen overnight. They are choices made repeatedly, so change will come the same way.
If you fall, get back up and start again. Quitting is not an option.
Work on being consistent in the choices you make that are beneficial. One step at a time and one day at a time.
- Third, positive relationships are extremely important; surrounding yourself with supportive people on your journey.
- Fourth, see this as an opportunity that will help you make the best choices for your life, not only now but also in the future.
These few steps are a good starting point to create a lasting plan of attack for change and the betterment of your life.
