The Los Angeles Dodgers came roaring back in Game 2 of the 2025 World Series, defeating the Toronto Blue Jays 5-1 on Saturday night at Rogers Centre to even the series 1-1.
Starter Yoshinobu Yamamoto had an outstanding game, pitching the first complete game in the World Series in ten years. He gave up only one run on four hits, recorded eight strikeouts, and didn’t walk any batters, effectively shutting down Toronto’s lineup.
Dodgers Broke the Tie With Solo Home Runs
The Dodgers took the lead in the 7th inning with back-to-back solo home runs from Will Smith and Max Muncy. Smith added another RBI in the 8th, making it 5-1, and the team maintained that lead.
Freddie Freeman Hits a Double
Freddie Freeman hit a double to start strong, and the Dodgers’ defense supported Yamamoto with great plays all night.
Dodger Momentum is Back
With momentum back, the series moves to Los Angeles for Game 3, where the Dodgers aim to take the lead in front of their enthusiastic home crowd.

Key Moments:
- 1st inning: Freeman doubled, and Smith’s single brought him in for a 1-0 lead.
- In the 3rd inning, Toronto came back with a sacrifice fly from Alejandro Kirk, making the score 1-1.
- 7th inning: Smith hit a home run to make it 2-1; Muncy followed with another home run for 3-1.
- In the 8th inning, the Dodgers scored two more runs: Andy Pages made it home because of a wild pitch, and then Smith hit a ground ball that allowed another player to score.
- Series Standing: Tied at 1-1 with Game 3 coming up.
✅ Why It Matters
- The Dodgers bounced back after a tough Game 1 loss, and that strength will be important later.
- Yamamoto’s complete game shows dominance on the mound, giving the Dodgers the momentum they need in a best-of-seven series.
- Smith and Muncy’s timely performance broke the tie and eased the stress on the pitchers.
