Music Videos
Music videos have been around for a long time, notably in 1975 Queen released a promo film for Bohemian Rhapsody. The band created it, according to Roger Taylor, because they were on tour and couldn’t appear on Top of the Pops. This moment changed how music would be marketed.
The music industry took another leap forward when MTV began in 1981, making music videos a global business.
Directors Take Center Stage
Directors took center stage as YouTube brought music videos into homes worldwide in the 2000s. Today, artists reach millions quickly by sharing videos on multiple social media platforms.
Each video has a team of creative individuals working to create a piece of work that they hope will stand the test of time.
Enter the Hollywood Music Video Awards.

The Hollywood Music Video Awards began in 2025 following two years of planning with experts from the music industry.
The first event had over 500 attendees aged 21 to 45, received more than 2 million views, and attracted thousands of global submissions.
