GFTR industry pros vs talented up-and-coming rookies

The Great Food Truck Race is putting industry veterans up against talented up-and-coming rookies in a David vs. Goliath competition of the best food on wheels for the first time in the history of the program. Tyler Florence is the host of this competition, which pits nine teams from all over the country against one another in fast-paced challenges designed to test their culinary prowess, marketing knowledge, and sales prowess in order to stay in the running. This season’s action takes place smack in the heart of the expanding food truck business in Los Angeles, which has long been at the forefront of the movement.

The race begins with each of the nine teams presenting a dish that best represents their line of work before moving to a baseball field to serve Little League players and their families while LA Dodgers player Mookie Betts pays a visit.

Guest Judges on The Great Food Truck Race

Other obstacles include generating social media content to attract viewers, cooking for guest judges Chef Jet Tila, Chef Joe Sasto, and previous season’s winner, Seoreata’s Evanice Holz, as well as drawing inspiration from Chef Antonia Lofaso’s well-known restaurant dishes for their own menus. All the action comes to a head-to-head conclusion in which only one team wins the $50,000 big prize that might change their lives. The Great Food Truck Race: David vs. Goliath debuts on Sunday, June 18th at 8 pm ET/PT on Food Network with a supersized episode.
