ASCAP Christian Music Songwriter of the Year
Brandon Lake is a talented songwriter who has received the prestigious honor of being named the ASCAP Christian Music Songwriter of the Year. ASCAP, the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers, recently hosted a remarkable event on Monday night, October 2nd, in Nashville. The purpose of the event was to pay tribute to the talented songwriters and publishers behind Christian music’s 25 most performed songs of the past year. It was a memorable celebration of their contributions and achievements in the industry.
Congrats to all the ASCAP Christian Music Award winners!
So, here are the big winners:
– Brandon Lake snagged the Christian Music Songwriter of the Year title. Way to go, Brandon!
– Matthew West got the ASCAP Golden Note Award. Congrats, Matthew!
– The Christian Music Song of the Year went to “In Jesus Name (God of Possible)” by David Spencer, from David Spencer Songs and Essential Music Publishing LLC.
– Capitol CMG Publishing took home the Christian Music Publisher of the Year award. Nice job, guys!
Brandon Lake Won his First ASCAP Songwriter of the Year Award
This is a huge deal for Brandon Lake, who won his first ASCAP Songwriter of the Year award. He had five songs that were performed the most: “Ain’t Nobody,” “Gratitude,” “Honey in the Rock,” “Same God,” and “This Is Our God.”
Brandon is also a Grammy Award-winning artist for his work with Maverick City Music. He’s leading the pack with 11 nominations at the upcoming Dove Awards, including Artist of the Year.
He’s also up for three Song of the Year nominations as a co-writer, and four Worship Recorded Song of the Year nominations, also as a co-writer. Keep an eye out for his new album, Coat of Many Colors, dropping on October 20. Jackie Patillo, the President and Executive Director of the Gospel Music Association, gave a shoutout to Brandon in a video tribute at the party.
