CLAYTON KERSHAW IS BACK WITH THE DODGERS FOR HIS 17TH SEASON
Clayton Kershaw, a left-handed pitcher, signed a one-year deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers that included a player option for the 2025 season.
Out of Highland Park High School (TX), the 2014 National League MVP and three-time Cy Young Award winner (2011, 2013, 2014) was originally selected by the Dodgers with the seventh overall choice in the 2006 First Year Player Draft.
Entering his 17th season with the team, Kershaw, 36, is third all-time in the franchise’s history, behind 18-year Dodger blue wearer Bill Russell and Zack Wheat. He joins Russell (1969–1986) as the only other Los Angeles Dodger to have played for the Boys in Blue for more than 17 seasons. He is also the 77th player in Major League Baseball history to have spent more than 17 seasons with the same team and the only active player in the league with more than 17 years of service.
The left-hander has a 210-92 record, ranks second in franchise history in wins, he leads in wins, ERA, strikeouts, and WHIP. With a 2.48 ERA, 2,944 strikeouts, and 1.004 WHIP, he’s close to becoming the 20th player in MLB history to reach 3,000 strikeouts.
On September 25th, the Dodgers will commemorate the left-hander with a bobblehead night against the Padres of San Diego.
Ryan Brasier
The Los Angeles Dodgers have made an exciting move by securing right-handed pitcher Ryan Brasier with a lucrative two-year contract worth $9 million.
After pitching 2-0 with a 0.70 ERA in 39 games with the Dodgers the previous season, Brasier, 36, is back for his second season with the team. He was dismissed on May 21 after starting the season with the Red Sox and going 1-0 with a 7.29 ERA. On June 4, he signed a contract with the Dodgers. Following two games with Triple-A Oklahoma City, he led all Major League relievers (min. 35 G) in opponents’ OPS (.397) and ERA (0.70), while he finished second in WHIP (0.72) and fourth in opponents’ batting average (.140). He spent portions of seven seasons in the Major Leagues, and with the Los Angeles Angels (2013), Boston Red Sox (2018–23), and Los Angeles Dodgers (2023), he is a combined 9–8 with a 3.88 ERA. Out of Weatherford College (TX), he was originally selected by the Angels in the sixth round of the 2007 First Year Player Draft.
