Professional sports organizations pledge a combined donation of more than $8 million to support both the firefighters and fire victims in L.A.
A total of more than $8 million has been pledged by 12 professional sports organizations, including Angel City FC, the Angels, Chargers, Clippers, Dodgers, Ducks, Galaxy, Kings, LAFC, Lakers, Rams, and Sparks, to help victims in need and firefighters as the residents of Los Angeles and the surrounding communities begin the lengthy recovery from the devastating fires that have destroyed the area.
Donation Recipients
The American Red Cross, the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation, the California Fire Foundation, the Eaton Canyon Fire Relief and Recovery Fund, World Central Kitchen, the California Community Foundation Wildfire Recovery Fund, Team Rubicon, and several regional animal rescue groups are among the recipients of the teams’ donations.
Generous Donation: $3 Million in Fanatics Merchandise for Angelenos
The 12 teams, alongside Fanatics and the Fanatics Foundation, are distributing $3 million in merchandise to Angelenos evacuated from their homes, contributing thousands of additional items for three upcoming events. These events will offer personal hygiene kits, school supplies, and sneakers in collaboration with community partners.
Distribution will take place on Friday, January 17, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Dodger Stadium, SoFi Stadium, and BMO Stadium.
Those with Proof of Residency May Attend the Events
Residents of Zip Codes that have been evacuated can attend. The stadium may be reached by bus for people staying in evacuation shelters. Both individuals and families will receive lunch at the events.
Support LA Strong
On January 10, Los Angeles sports organizations, professional leagues, and Fanatics jointly launched the “LA Strong” line of t-shirts and sweatshirts, with the sales going to the American Red Cross and the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation. To support communities in need, fans can purchase these limited-edition items at fanatics.com/lastrong.
Giving Back to the Communities Who Have Supported Them
In the following weeks and months, teams are using their local partnerships and foundations to support frontline workers, fire victims, and impacted communities.
