Meryl Streep to Chair 2026 Women Making History Awards Gala

The National Women’s History Museum has announced Academy Award-winning actress, producer, and philanthropist Meryl Streep as Honorary Chair of its 15th Women Making History Awards Gala, taking place November 6 in Chicago.

This year’s honorees include the U.S. Women’s National Hockey Team, Chicago Stars FC controlling owner Laura Ricketts, and entrepreneur and women’s economic opportunity advocate Gregg Renfrew.

Honoring Leadership and Impact

The honorees will be recognized for advancing opportunity through sports, philanthropy, civic leadership, consumer advocacy, and economic empowerment.

The U.S. Women’s National Hockey Team will receive a Women Making History Award for its athletic achievements and impact on women’s sports.

Ricketts will be honored for her leadership in professional sports, philanthropy, and community investment.

Renfrew will be recognized for her work advancing consumer safety, beauty industry reform, and economic opportunities for women.

Meryl Streep’s Continued Support

Streep’s role as Honorary Chair continues her longstanding partnership with the Museum.

Earlier this year, the Museum announced the Meryl Streep Educator Award, recognizing educators who are expanding the teaching of women’s contributions to American history.

The 2026 Gala will also recognize previously announced honorees, including civil rights icon Ruby Bridges, ArentFox Schiff, and educators Kristen Kelly and Serene Williams, the inaugural recipients of the Meryl Streep Educator Award.

With America marking its 250th anniversary, the Gala will celebrate individuals and organizations whose leadership has helped shape the nation’s history while creating opportunities for future generations.
