Dodger Game Recap
Date: February 24, 2024 – A Spring Training Day game
Teams: Los Angeles Dodgers @ Los Angeles Angeles
Times played: 1st game against each other
Location: Tempe Diablo Stadium, Tempe, AZ
The Dodgers played their third Cactus League game of the season on Saturday against the Los Angeles Angels.
Starting Pitchers:
Dodgers: Tyler Glasnow – Spring debut as a Dodger
Angeles: Victor Mederos
Glasnow pitched the first and part of the second inning and gave up an RBI in the second by Jo Adell, which gave the Angels the lead.
Highlights
Bottom of the 1st inning, the Angeles have players on first and third base. Mike Trout comes up to bat, and the count is 3 and 2. Trout hits a high pop-up and is out. Nolan Schanuel was at first base and was tagged out by second baseman Mookie Betts as he attempted to return to first base following Trout’s high flyout. He didn’t see Betts coming for him. A double play for the record books. Score: 0-0 at the end of the first.
The Angels were the first to score and get on the board with one run at the end of the second inning.
In the top of the fourth, Lux comes up to bat. He has two strikes, hits a single, and gets on base due to a fumbled ball at 2nd base. #84 Andy Pages hits and brings Lux in to tie the game 1-1.
Bottom of the 5th and Gage is pitching, and #17 Hunter Dozier hits a high fly ball into right field. Dodgers #84 Pages drops the ball, putting Dozier on second base. Angels player #10 Jake Marisnick comes up to bat and hits a fly ball into left field, bringing in Dozier.
Score 3-1, no outs. Jake Marisnick steals third base due to Chris Taylor’s late tag.
The Angels scored two runs on two hits, ending the fifth with a score of 4-1.
Top of the sixth, #89 Sweeney is up, 2 balls, 2 strikes. Sweeney hits the ball down center field, and Hernandez runs to third base and then to home plate and scores as the ball is thrown to #56 the Angels pitcher, who drops it. Score 4-2, Angeles.
Jose Ramos Gives the Dodgers Hope
The game picks up for the Dodgers in the eighth inning as #81 Jose Ramos hits a solo home run down center field. Score 4-3, Angeles.
Dodgers player #80 is walked, Taylor Young is hit by a pitch, and he takes first base. #97 is walked, and the bases are loaded with one out. The Los Angeles Angels change pitchers, and pitcher Michael Darrell-Hicks comes in.
Up to bat for the Dodgers is Gauthier. A wild pitch is thrown and uncatchable by the backcatcher, and Freeland comes in to tie the game. Score: 4-4. With one out, the Dodgers have players at 2nd and 3rd base. Gauthier is walked, and bases are loaded.
#68 Ryan Ward comes up to bat, and with a full count, he hits the ball deep into right field, down to the right corner off the wall, bringing in three players and giving the Dodgers the lead with a score of 7-4.
Angels Make a Comeback Run
At the bottom of the 8th, the Angels make a comeback run. There’s one out, and #28 Mejia is walked, and #39 Jordyn Adams hits into left field—a double run. Mejia takes advantage of Angeles’ Paris’ out and scores 5-7 Dodgers with two outs.
Martin #51 comes up to bat and hits a 2-run home run, tying the score at 7-7.
Dodgers Manager Dave Roberts calls the game at the end of the ninth with a tie score of 7-7.

From the dugout, Kirsten Watson of SportsNet LA spoke with Glasnow to find out how he felt about his pitching performance.
“Not very good, but I think in terms of things I’ve been working on, feeling-wise, and metrics they were good. As far as execution, not the best,” Glasnow said. “But I think that’s what spring is for, especially early on, just ironing some things out. But as far as health and metrics, it was good so I’ll take it.”
