In 1974, Shintaro Tsuji, a designer for the Japanese company Sanrio, created a straightforward but endearing character. He probably had no idea that his creation—a little white kitty lacking a mouth and sporting an eye-catching red bow—would go on to become one of the most well-known and iconic figures in popular culture.
In addition to her financial success, Hello Kitty has had a major impact on pop culture and fashion. Designers and artists have used her image as inspiration, showcasing it in fashion shows and art exhibitions. Her place as a cultural icon has been enhanced further by celebrities and influencers who have adopted her as a symbol of cuteness and kawaii culture.

Recently, the Hello Kitty Cafe Truck made a stop in Burbank, CA at the Burbank Town Center to connect with fans and offer Kitty merchandise to celebrate Hello Kitty’s 50th Anniversary.
