In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, dry onion soup mix, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, kosher salt, pepper, and liquid smoke. Mix gently until all ingredients are well incorporated.
Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and loosely shape each portion into a patty, about 3/4 inch thick.

Heat a grill to medium-high heat.
