“As mortified as I am by the nonfunctional spaces and unexplainable design choices in these homes, I’m also drawn to it,” said Retta. “Like a moth to the ugliest of flames, I need to see and know what the heck is going on in there.”
‘Ugliest House in America’ on HGTV will have two new seasons, starring comedian and actress Retta, and designer Alison Victoria. Seasons four and five are expected to debut in the latter half of 2023 and 2024, respectively.
What to Look Forward to During Each Season
Five half-hour episodes and a one-hour season finale will be featured in each of seasons four and five. Following Retta as she travels cross-country to examine homes nominated by homeowners who think their place is one of the worst in the nation, the show—which drew more than 12 million viewers during its previous season—will return this summer.
Loren Ruch, Head of Content, HGTV commented, “Retta’s humor brings everyone together for a lot of laughs and we can’t wait to hit the road to capture more of it.”
Season four is expected to make its debut in late summer of 2023 and season five will begin in 2024.
“We’ve all seen those magazine-worthy homes that make you feel bad about your own house,” said Retta. “THIS AIN’T THAT SHOW!”

Let the Makeover Begin
Retta will tour three homes in each episode, sharing her uncensored thoughts on anything from miles of awful tile to carpeted handrails to an overwhelming collection of fairytale-themed trinkets and false stained glass. She will witness the worst in American society during the season and work with a chosen homeowner to make their ugly home into a showpiece.
Designer Alison Victoria will transform the ugliest house with an amazing $150,000 remodel.
