Under Armour, Inc. made an official statement today, revealing their recent signing of MiLaysia Fulwiley, the talented guard from the University of South Carolina. This signing marks a significant milestone as it involves a multi-year NIL (name, image, and likeness) agreement.

Fulwiley will be the first collegiate athlete from an Under Armour school to join Curry Brand. Throughout her college career, she will wear Curry Brand footwear on the court, while also serving as a brand ambassador to promote the Curry Brand’s mission of making a positive impact in collegiate and women’s basketball.

Additionally, Fulwiley will work closely with the Curry Brand team to create player exclusives that showcase her unique personality and style.

“We are thrilled to have MiLaysia officially join the Curry Brand family,” said Ryan Drew, the GM of Curry Brand. “MiLaysia embodies the type of athlete with whom we love to partner: she is a highly motivated, talented, and community-driven young athlete who works every day to compete at the highest level. As we continue to grow and diversify the Curry Brand, we are excited to partner with her and deepen our roots in the collegiate athlete community.”

Curry Brand has been an integral part of Fulwiley’s basketball journey even before joining this partnership. Originally from Columbia, SC, Fulwiley currently plays for her college team in her hometown. During her last season of AAU basketball, she had the privilege of playing for Team Curry, which is sponsored by Stephen Curry and Curry Brand, located in Charlotte, NC. Being a devoted fan of the brand for a long time, Fulwiley has consistently improved her skills by wearing different Curry Brand shoes. Her loyalty to the brand has remained strong even during her time at the University of South Carolina, which is an Under Armour school.

“When it comes to the ability to change the game for good, nobody can speak to that more than MiLaysia,” said Stephen Curry, President of Curry Brand. “She’s changing the women’s game on the fly with how she plays and moves on the court. She has a unique style and flow to her game that I don’t think many people have seen in a long time. She was a part of Curry Camp, is a Team Curry alumni, and is currently playing at an Under Armour school, so there are just so many great tie-ins to the Under Armour family, and partnering with her and Curry Brand is such a special opportunity. I’m humbled that she is now a part of the family.”

Fulwiley Has a Winning History

Fulwiley‘s connection to Curry is evident in her playing style, bringing energy, quickness, and flair to each possession, much like Stephen Curry himself. She has a winning history, having won four high school state championships in South Carolina and earning numerous national honors.

Fulwiley, who played six seasons of varsity high school basketball due to her advanced skills, scored over three thousand career points. In her freshman year at the University of South Carolina, she averaged 11 points and 2.9 rebounds per game, contributing to their perfect regular season record and earning a spot on the SEC’s All-Freshman Team.

Over the weekend, Fulwiley made history by becoming the first freshman in South Carolina to be named the SEC Tournament MVP.

“MiLaysia is a generational player, an artist who is expanding her understanding of how to marry all aspects of her game every day,” said Dawn Staley, Head Coach of the University of South Carolina women’s basketball team. “We are learning things from each other about how to maximize her game, and it has been incredible to work with her on that process.”

Fulwiley’s impact extends beyond her achievements on the court. She remains actively engaged in her community of Columbia, South Carolina, where she maintains her involvement with her high school team and grassroots basketball. Collaborating with Curry Brand and Under Armour, Fulwiley is committed to advancing the game of basketball and nurturing young athletes in her hometown and beyond, aligning with their shared mission to revolutionize the sport.

“It feels incredible to be picked to represent Curry Brand,” said Fulwiley. “Knowing that I can be a role model for other young girls to come out here and do exactly what I did is amazing.”

Curry Brand and De’Aaron Fox Signing

Curry Brand made headlines last year by signing De’Aaron Fox, an active NBA player, to another player’s brand, marking a historic move in the industry.

Following this success, Curry Brand is set to release Fox’s inaugural signature shoe by the end of this year, capitalizing on the momentum from the previous collaboration. Moreover, the brand is expanding its product range by introducing a new golf collection this summer, which will include women’s apparel for the first time. In December 2021, Stephen Curry secured the brand’s initial NIL partnership with UConn guard Azzi Fudd through a comprehensive agreement with Stephen’s Thirty Ink, further solidifying Curry Brand’s presence in the sports market.

This year’s NCAA Tournament will see Fulwiley making her first appearance as a Curry Brand athlete.
