Keith Urban is this season’s Mega Mentor on The Voice. In country music, the Australian musician has gained a lot of popularity. People all across the world are captivated by the unique manner in which he merges pop, rock, and country music. The appealing tunes and meaningful songs have made him an internationally recognized figure. Keith Urban has genuinely connected with his listeners through his music and has won numerous awards and honors for his outstanding contribution to the music industry.

Urban said he loves mentoring and giving any advice that can help the contestants.

On Monday night, April 8, coaches Reba McEntire, John Legend, Dan and Shay, and Chance the Rapper had team members go head-to-head with each other. During the knockout rounds, contestants are chosen by their coach to go through to the Playoff Rounds, be stolen by another coach, or be knocked out of the contest and sent home. There are no saves during the knockout rounds.

On the premier night of ‘The Voice’ Knockout Rounds, three went home, and eight are still in the competition.

Each contestant chose his or her own song, and first up was Team Reba, with Tae Lewis going against Asher Havon.

Lewis sang “Nothing On You,” and Havon sang “Unbreak My Heart.” Lewis performed with confidence, and Havon gave a strong performance as well. It was a difficult decision for their coach, but in the end, Reba chose Asher Havon to move on to the Playoffs, leaving Lewis up for grabs or to go home.

Dan & Shay made the first steal of the evening. The duo hit their button and stole Tae Lewis to be apart of team Dan & Shay.

Josh Sanders and Ashley Bryant were the next two members of Reba’s team to perform. Bryant’s song of choice was “Heads Carolina, Tails California,” whereas Sanders’ performed “Wild As Her.” As they squared off, both gave it their all on stage to earn their coach’s favor. Reba chose Sanders to go to the playoffs after he outperformed Bryant, eliminating her from the competition.

Taking the stage to perform were Frank Garcia and Olivia Rubini from Team Dan & Shay.

Garcia sang “El Rriste,” and Rubini sang “Tiny Dancer.” Both did what they could to convince their coaches to choose them to move on to the Playoff rounds, but in the end, Olivia Rubini did a better job, according to her coaches, and Frank Garcia was sent home.

Up next for team Dan & Shay were Anya True and Kyle Schuesler True performed “Runaway,” and Schuesler chose “Say You Won’t Let Go.”

Schuesler was the stronger of the two, but Dan & Shay picked Anya True to go through to the Playoffs leaving Kyle up for grabs. Without hesitation, Chance the Rapper stole Kyle to be on his team. Chance said he had been waiting to get Kyle on his team.

Team Legend had Val T. Webb compete against Nathan Chester.

Webb’s song of choice was “Sweet Love,” and Chester chose “Fooled Around and Fell in Love.”  Looking in from the outside, if you will, neither contestant really performed in a way that said, “I’m the one to send to the Playoffs.”

Before the two performed, Coach John Legend had declared that he would pick the person who most moved him. Finally, he selected Nathan Chester, and Val T. Webb was sent home after being knocked out.

Dani Stacy was chosen to sing against 16-year-old Serenity Arce. Stacy affectionately commented that Mega Mentor Keith Urban smells like warm vanilla.

Naturally, all contestants were pleased to meet Urban and have a chance to gleam some helpful tips from the “sweet”-smelling country star.

During the decisive round, Arce sang “Unfaithful” while Stacy sang “Jaded.

Arce sings with a distinctive voice, but “Unfaithful” didn’t feel like the right song for her. While Stacy gave a little better performance, Coach Chance ultimately decided to send Serenity to the playoffs, meaning Dani Stacy was eliminated from the competition.
