MusiCares®, the most prominent charity in music, is organizing The Day That Music Cares, a dedicated day of service that will bring together the global music community on April 26, 2024. Expanding on the success of its first year, this program mobilizes music industry professionals and enthusiasts globally for a day of volunteer work, showcasing the strength and generosity of the music community.

Participants Organized Community Blood Drives, Organized Beach Clean-ups, and Volunteered at Local Food Banks

More than 1,400 people in the music industry participated in the effort last year, with MusiCares and other GRAMMY® participating organizations—such as the Recording Academy®, GRAMMY Museum®, Latin Recording Academy®, and the Latin GRAMMY Cultural Foundation®—leading the way. Musicians and sound engineers, traveling bands, and label personnel teamed up with music lovers to promote causes near and dear to their hearts. Participants organized community blood drives, organized beach clean-ups, and volunteered at local food banks, among other acts of service.

The Transformative Power of Giving Back

“The Day That Music Cares unites the music community’s culture of connection and the transformative power of giving back. Volunteering strengthens bonds within communities and reinforces mental health. Together in this shared mission, we’re harnessing the power of music to make a difference,” said Laura Segura, Executive Director of MusiCares.

Volunteering Lowers Sadness and Helps Self-esteem

In keeping with MusiCares‘ objective to promote the welfare of the music industry, participants make personal and community health investments. A wealth of research indicates that volunteering while interacting with people lowers sadness and enhances social health and self-esteem.
