Eight of the most outstanding sportsmen in the world will be honored at the 39th Annual Great Sports Legends Dinner, which is sponsored by Tudor Group and the Mack family and benefits The Buoniconti Fund to Cure Paralysis. For one night only, a remarkable group of individuals—Hall of Famers, World Champions, Olympic Gold Medalists, and other top awardees—come together to raise millions of dollars for research and treatment of neurological diseases and disorders, including paralysis, in an unprecedented effort.
Gloria Estefan Will Emcee
Symbol of Music Kool & The Gang will perform at the Tudor Group and Mack Family-presented gala in New York City, which Gloria Estefan will emcee.

On Monday, September 30th, at the New York Hilton Midtown, the following athletes will be honored: Roger Clemens, the seven-time Cy Young Award winner and two-time World Series champion; Tony Gonzalez, the NFL Hall of Fame tight end; Gary Payton, the NBA Champion and Basketball Hall of Famer; Jimmie Johnson, the seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion and NASCAR Hall of Famer; Henrik Lundqvist, the NHL Hall of Famer and Vezina Trophy winner; Kerri Walsh Jennings, the three-time Olympic Beach Volleyball Gold Medalist and three-time World Champion Kerri Walsh Jennings; Tamika Catchings, the women’s basketball Hall of Famer and four-time Olympic Gold Medalist; and Johnny Velazquez, the three-time Kentucky Derby winner and National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame member.
The Buoniconti Fund Humanitarian Award
Leigh Steinberg, entrepreneur, and author, will receive The Buoniconti Fund Humanitarian Award, while Ray Chambers, World Health Organization Ambassador, will receive the Christine E. Lynn Champion for A Cure Award.
Gloria Estefan’s Involvement with The Buoniconti Fund
Gloria Estefan, a philanthropist, music superstar, eight-time Grammy Award winner, and recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom, will preside over this prominent event as Mistress of Ceremonies. Estefan’s involvement with The Buoniconti Fund began over thirty years ago when she was involved in a tour bus accident and had a severe spinal cord damage.

The Buoniconti Fund President, Marc Buoniconti, acknowledges the Sports Legends and Honorees who stand up for those who can’t, recognizing their exceptional performances in and out of sports. Buoniconti’s event accelerates new treatments for neurological diseases like paralysis and Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, MS, and stroke, aiming to cure millions with spinal cord and brain injuries.
Sports Legends Alumni include athletes like Michael Jordan, Muhammad Ali, Jack Nicklaus, and many others who acknowledge that paralyzing injuries can occur in their pursuit of athletic careers and everyday lives. They recognize the importance of addressing these injuries in their careers.
