Top Country Music Winners Announced
ASCAP has revealed the songwriters and publishers behind the most performed country songs of the past year at the 2025 ASCAP Nashville Songwriters Celebration.
Ashley Gorley Sets New Record
Ashley Gorley has won his twelfth ASCAP Country Music Songwriter of the Year Award, the most by any songwriter in any genre. His notable songs include “Fix What You Didn’t Break” by Nate Smith, “I Am Not Okay” and “Liar” by Jelly Roll, and “Park” by Tyler Hubbard.
Gorley was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in June and has written 83 number one hits.
Shaboozey Named Songwriter and Artist of the Year

Shaboozey takes home the ASCAP Country Music Songwriter and Artist of the Year honor. His hit “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” earns ASCAP Country Music Song of the Year. His track “Good News,” co-written with Sean Cook, is also among ASCAP’s most performed country songs.
Song of the Year: A Bar Song (Tipsy)
“A Bar Song (Tipsy)” was written by Sean Cook, Jerrell J-Kwon Jones, Joe Capo Kent and Mark Tarboy Williams. Publishers include Sony Music Publishing, Essancy Music, Seeker Music, Range Music Publishing, Tarpo Music Publishing, Hood Hop Music, Kreshendo and Warner Chappell Music.
The song topped the Billboard Hot 100 for 19 weeks and received several awards, including Top Country Song and New Artist Song of the Year.
It received nominations for International Song of the Year at the Brit Awards and Single of the Year at the CMA Awards, while Shaboozey is nominated for New Artist of the Year at the CMA Awards and has multiple Grammy nominations.
Publisher of the Year: Sony Music Publishing
Sony Music Publishing earns ASCAP Country Music Publisher of the Year.
Their top titles include “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” by Shaboozey for a second year, “Fix What You Didn’t Break” by Nate Smith, “Hard Fought Hallelujah” by Brandon Lake and Jelly Roll, “Good News” by Shaboozey, “Cowboys Cry Too” by Kelsea Ballerini and Noah Kahan, “Coming Home” by Old Dominion, “Country House” by Sam Hunt, “I Am Not Okay” by Jelly Roll, “4x4xU” by Lainey Wilson and “Love You, Miss You, Mean It” by Luke Bryan.
Celebration in Nashville
ASCAP hosted a private event in Nashville to honor the winners, where awards were presented by Paul Williams, Elizabeth Matthews, Nicole George Middleton, and Mike Sistad, bringing together songwriters and industry peers.
Additional Recognitions
ASCAP also recognized the most performed Christian Music songwriters and publishers at the celebration.
