“I always knew I would do a bluegrass album,” Taylor said. “I’ll never forget turning 16, getting my license and going to pick up my Papaw to take him to see Ralph Stanley at the Mountain Arts Center in Prestonsburg. I am pretty sure my friends were doing anything but taking their grandpa on a date to listen to bluegrass music, it was really special for me.”

Taylor’s Appalachian heritage is beautifully showcased in this album, which consists of eight captivating songs.
Kentucky Bluegrassed consists of eight songs, with five being re-imagined versions from Kentucky Blue and three being new Taylor originals. The album showcases a range of emotions, from modest to boisterous, gentle to blunt. It is a stripped-down musical and vocal achievement that pays homage to the people and music that influenced Taylor from a young age.
Taylor’s Songs Tell Stories of Everyday Life
Alongside the re-imagined songs, the album includes the previously released tracks “Saint Anthony,” “Church Bus,” and “Married.” True to the bluegrass genre, these songs tell stories of everyday life.

Taylor frequently references St. Anthony and even bought her own church bus for touring. Additionally, she wrote “Married” just a month before eloping with Chaffins to a vintage desert trailer park near Taos, New Mexico. Seamlessly flowing with the songs from Kentucky Blue, the new album creates a rich quilt woven with threads of tradition, innovation, and raw talent.
Music Video Directed by Natia Cinco
The music video for the main song, “If You Don’t Wanna Love Me,” from the album, is also being released. Directed by Natia Cinco, the video adds a new twist to the original song. The fiddle playfully flirts with a plucky banjo and groovy bass, giving the song a fresh newgrass vibe. The lyrics are sassy and a little sultry, adding to the overall appeal.
If You Don’t Want to Love Me, That’s Fine, Because I’ll Find Someone Who Will
The song has a touch of a “hillbilly risqué” vibe to it. It was just enough to make her husband regret suggesting a certain line that Taylor absolutely adored and refused to change. The sassy message of the song was crystal clear: “If you don’t want to love me, that’s fine, because I’ll find someone who will.”
“The band was on fire,” Taylor said. “We were hoping to get five or six songs recorded – if we were lucky, but we ended up tracking all eight songs. These musicians are on a whole other level. There are no pro-tools tricks. There wasn’t a big budget or time for a ton of overdubs. All we had was one day, the Clement recording studio and that was it. Brandon Bell (engineer and mixer) is a wizard on the board, and that studio with all its history has good vibes. It was a hell of a good time. And probably the most fun I’ve ever had in the studio thus far.”
Taylor Recognized As One of the Few Artists Reviving Traditional Country Music
Grammy.com also recognizes Taylor as one of the few artists reviving traditional country music. Additionally, Whiskey Riff, in their review of the pre-release of her song “Saint Anthony,” urges everyone to take notice of Brit Taylor if they haven’t already. It’s definitely time to pay attention to her incredible talent.
