O’Brien First Time Oscars Host
Academy President Janet Yang and Academy CEO Bill Kramer announced recently that Conan O’Brien, a comedian, writer, producer, and television host who has won an Emmy® Award, will host the 97th Oscars®. O’Brien will be hosting the show for the first time. On Sunday, March 2, 2025, at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT, ABC and broadcast outlets around the world will broadcast the Oscars live. The official live red carpet show will begin at 6:30 p.m. ET/3:30 p.m. PT.
Kramer and Yang are honored to have Conan O’Brien host the Oscars this year, praised for his brilliant humor, love of movies, and live TV expertise, bringing viewers together to honor this year’s spectacular films and filmmakers.
“America demanded it and now it’s happening: Taco Bell’s new Cheesy Chalupa Supreme. In other news, I’m hosting the Oscars,” said O’Brien.
O’Brien: A Celebrated Late-Night Talk Show Host, Writer, and Podcaster
The late-night talk shows “Late Night with Conan O’Brien,” “The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien,” and “Conan” are the series that O’Brien is most famous for hosting. He worked as a writer for “Saturday Night Live” and “The Simpsons” prior to his more than two-decade hosting stint. O’Brien recently starred in the 2024 travel series “Conan O’Brien Must Go” and is presently the host of the podcast “Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend.” For his efforts, he has received five Primetime Emmys® and 31 nominations.
“Conan has all the qualities of a great Oscars host–he is incredibly witty, charismatic and funny and has proven himself to be a master of live event television,” said Oscars executive producers Raj Kapoor and Katy Mullan. “We are so looking forward to working with him to deliver a fresh, exciting and celebratory show for Hollywood’s biggest night.”
The 97th Oscars will take place on March 2, 2025, at the Dolby® Theatre at Ovation Hollywood and will be broadcast live on ABC and worldwide.
