Dodgers Recall Jake Eder, Place Edwin Díaz on Injured List

The Los Angeles Dodgers recalled left-handed pitcher Jake Eder and placed right-handed pitcher Edwin Díaz on injured list with right elbow loose bodies.

Jake Eder, who is 27 years old, was traded from the Nationals on April 1 for cash considerations. This season, he has played three games for Triple-A Oklahoma City, pitching a total of 5.1 innings and allowing two runs.

Major League debut

In 2025, he pitched for the Los Angeles Angels, making eight appearances with a record of 0-1 and a 4.91 ERA over 18.1 innings. He made his Major League debut on September 17, 2024, as part of the Chicago White Sox, where he gave up one run in two innings.

Pitched in 72 minor league games

The former Vanderbilt Commodore was selected in the fourth round of the 2020 First Year Player Draft by the Miami Marlins. Throughout his career, he has pitched in 72 minor league games, holding a record of 10-29 with a 5.35 ERA and achieving 356 strikeouts in 312.2 innings.

Right elbow surgery

Edwin Díaz, who is 32 years old, gave up three runs without getting an out yesterday. For the season, he has a record of 1-0 and a 10.50 ERA over seven games.

Surgery at Kerlan-Jobe Orthopedic Clinic

Díaz will have surgery at Kerlan-Jobe Orthopedic Clinic on Wednesday to remove loose bodies from his elbow. He is expected to return during the second half of the season.

A three-time All-Star

The veteran, who has been playing for 10 years, has a career record of 29-36 with a 2.91 ERA in 527 games. As a three-time All-Star, he has achieved 257 saves out of 300 chances and has struck out 849 batters.

He was selected in the third round of the 2012 First Year Player Draft by the Seattle Mariners after graduating from Caguas Military Academy in Puerto Rico.
