Authorities updated on the deadly Eaton fire near Pasadena, worsened by high winds, which resulted in at least five fatalities.
3 figures they shared:
1. The Eaton fire has consumed over 16.5 square miles and is so far uncontained.
2. Between 200 and 500 structures have been damaged or destroyed.
3. About 100,000 people have received notices to evacuate.

The Defense Department is enhancing firefighting personnel and capabilities in California to effectively combat the increasingly severe wildfires in Los Angeles County, which have erupted recently due to prolonged dry conditions and high winds.
Press Secretary Sabrina Singh stated “The California National Guard is adding two Modular Airborne Fire Fighting System units, and two more are being readied by the Nevada National Guard.”
She also stated that DOD has four additional MAFFS that could be used to fight the fires — if needed.
This strategic move involves deploying additional resources, including specialized firefighting teams and advanced equipment, to ensure a rapid and efficient response to these devastating blazes that threaten both the environment and local communities.
